The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Violent Gang Task Force arrested three people in SeaTac on Nov. 17 on firearm and drug charges.
Special Agent in Charge Kelvin N. Crenshaw said agents recovered guns and illegal narcotics were from a residence in SeaTac after serving a federal search warrant.
Two persons in the house had outstanding arrest warrants and were taken into custody by the King County Sheriff's Office.
Arrested and charged with firearm and drug violations were Israel Davis, Albert Barrientes and Daniel Castillo, according to Crenshaw. They were scheduled to appear in federal court later in the day.
The arrests were made through a joint investigation by the King County Sheriff's Office, SeaTac Street Crime Unit, and the ATF Violent Gang Task Force.
Deadly White Center fire
A woman died and her son was severely burned trying to save her after their home at 3915 S.W. 106th St. in White Center caught fire on Nov. 16.
The woman was home alone when the mid-afternoon fire started. Her husband and her 36-year-old son came home to find the home burning and the woman on fire standing in the doorway.
The son tried to save her by putting her flames out with a garden hose, but she died a short time later from her burns.
The son also suffered extensive burns to his hands and face in the rescue attempt and was taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. He was listed in serious condition.
The cause of the fire was not immediately determined but investigators indicated it probably was accidental.
The names of the victims were not immediately released.
Thieves steal truck, goods
A commercial-sized truck was stolen from a SeaTac business Nov. 4 or 5 from a SeaTac business, according to SeaTac police officers.
The thieves drove the truck to Kent where they used it to steal a 53-foot trailer full of retail clothing and bath products estimated at a retail value of $1.5 million
Then they drove the trailer to Federal Way where they offloaded the stolen goods into a warehouse.
After the first heist, they drove the trailer back to SeaTac, dumped it and hooked up another trailer with $45,000 worth of toys that they also unloaded at the Federal Way warehouse.
Detectives searched the warehouse on Nov. 6 and 7, recovered all of the stolen goods and returned them to their owners.
Suspects have been identified and an investigation is underway, according to SeaTac police.
Power customers targeted
Seattle City Light, which provides electricity to large part of the Highline area, is warning customers about thieves who call residents to steal credit card information.
These thieves claim the customer didn't sign his or her personal check to pay a bill. The caller explains that to avoid a shut-off, a credit card payment is due immediately.
But, utility representatives said, City Light notifies customers if their power is going to be shut off with at least two written warnings, not by phone.
All City Light customers are advised to take the name and telephone number of anyone who calls for the company, then call City Light at 206-684-3000 to verify the request; or e-mail at respond.scl@seattle.gov.
