Get a taste of all of the arts, from visual to culinary, during Burien's fourth annual Spring Stroll Art Walk.
The art walk on Saturday, May 5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., will give strollers a chance to enjoy the work of dozens of artists and sample food, beer, wine and books from local businesses.
Activities and artists will be located both outside and inside businesses marked with balloons along Southwest 152nd and 153rd streets in downtown Burien.
A broad spectrum of captivating visual arts will be on display, from watercolors to fused and hand-blown glass, pastels, photographs and more. Functional art will include hand-fashioned jewelry.
At the Seahurst Art Gallery, enjoy treats and live keyboard music by Rebecca Greenspan from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. while perusing the artwork. The gallery is just around the corner from Southwest 152nd Street on 10th Avenue Southwest in Olde Burien.
Learn how artists perform their crafts at locations such as Fireweed Bead Co., where bead-working techniques will be demonstrated. Artists will be on hand to discuss and sell their work.
Although the Moshier Arts Center, 430 S. 156th St., is outside the main art walk route, check out the center's unbeatable deals on ceramic artwork and pottery. The semi-annual Moshier Pottery Sale runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day.
Elliott Bay Brewery & Pub will offer tastes of its beer at the pub's new location at Southwest 152nd Street and Fourth Avenue Southwest. Tapas will be paired with Spanish wines at Poggi Bonsi Cucina from 3 to 5 p.m.
Strollers can test the cuisine at several other businesses, including Dan the Sausageman, The Daily Perk Bakery & Cafe, Mark Restaurant & Bar, Mick Kelly's Irish Pub and Restaurant, and Sal's Deli.
Burien Books will represent the literary arts as former city councilwoman Georgette Valle signs Always a Rebel and Never Without a Cause from 11 a.m. on.
Valle's book is about her life and times, including her service as a Washington State legislator. The bookstore will take no cut from its sales so all proceeds can go to the Seahurst Environmental Science Center in Seahurst Park.
Maps with art walk details are available at the information booth sponsored by John L. Scott Real Estate in front of the former Gottschalks parking lot on Southwest 152nd Street at Fifth Avenue Southwest.
