For a clue read the article "Burien Council looks at transportation taxes" in which they are concerned that fees will drive up the cost of development and the price of homes. Raising the cost on homes raises rent, too.
Extolling the virtues of the Democrat Party as vote getters doesn't mean it is good for the State or the future of our young people. Promising to take money from those who earned it to give to those that don't has great appeal and the appeal is inversely proportional to how far away from Seattle one lives.
Remember Willoughby's rule: "The demand for services rises to consume all available resources." Ignoring the rule leads to catastrophic failure of the economic system.
For the young people, get involved in your government. Your future is being hocked to Quell the appetite of those demanding more services than you can afford or need.
