More than 20 businesses along Southwest 152nd Street are banding together for Burien's first Ladies Day Out on Saturday, Oct. 6, to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer.
From noon to midnight, these businesses will offer special activities from wine tasting to designer trunk shows. Each business has created its own in-store promotion to benefit the nonprofit Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Start the day off by picking up a detailed map of participating businesses and their offerings. Maps will be available at these businesses, which will be marked with pink balloons, or at the Ladies Day Out tent on Southwest 152nd Street.
Ladies Day Out provides plenty of great buys. Among the businesses featuring in-store specials are Zizia, Poggi Bonsi Cucina and Allusia. Check out fashion's latest during designer trunk shows highlighting Turkish boots at Poggi Bonsi and eyewear at Optimark Eyecare.
On the pampering side, try a chair massage or an intuitive reading at Flat Majic. Sign up for a yoga class special at Karuna Arts Yoga, and slip into comfort with a pair of "Stepping Towards a Cure" slippers at 3 Wishes.
Receive a gift with purchase at SkinPerfect and a free Hello Kitty goodie with purchase at Goodie Gumdrops.
Buy five cards at The Card Bar and get one free. Purchase a chance at a raffle basket at The Yarn Stash.
Other businesses donating a percentage of sales include Tannehill Collectables, Jay Lauris Jewelers, Miss Kitty's Kristmas Kollectables and Fireweed Bead Co.
Don't neglect a break for refreshments. Savor a free sample of strawberry ice cream at B-Town Scoop. Sip wine during tastings at Poggi Bonsi Cucina and Dan the Sausageman.
Enjoy the all-day happy hour at Vino Bello Wine Shop plus food and drink specials at the Mark Restaurant & Bar.
Get cozy with a Burien hunk and have a souvenir photo of the moment taken at Prudential Northwest Realty Associates LLC. Then bid on Burien's finest during a bachelor auction starting at 10:30 p.m. at the Mark Restaurant & Bar.
The event is produced by Marketing Innovations on behalf of the event's sponsor, the Discover Burien Association.
John L. Scott Real Estate is providing t-shirts and Prudential Northwest Realty Associates LLC is providing shopping bags for participating businesses.
