Meet the MoiMoi girls
Meet Pinky, Kiki and Mermaid and Tilisi MoiMoi. They all live in Burien,
They are from Tonga in the south seas and their father, Lasike MoiMoi, is a good friend of Henry Mueller, famed local developer (among scores of others he built the former Lora Lake Apartments), so the girls know Henry well.
Henry also often entertained the King of Tonga. Though now deceased, the king came to Burien about 25 years ago and Henry arranged to serve his friend a 200-pound hamburger.
The family was shopping for Halloween costumes in Value Village.
Meet Frank Ricci
He is the owner of Olde Burien's newest restaurant. It is called the 909 because that is the address on 152nd across from the Feed Store.
Frank calls it kind of a Bistro that the dictionary says means cozy, attractive and inviting.
Elsbeth and I dropped by lunch and we were delighted with the atmosphere and the menu. I had a frittatta and she had a big bowl of vegetable soup.
Also very tasty.
Frank is the youngest of the six Ricci brothers, well know locals whose father Angelo started Angelo's Italian in 1957, selling pizza and deli items before he enlarged it into Angelo's restaurant.
I asked Frank to entertain us with an aria from Regulator like his Dad often did but he demurred, laughed, poked himself in the chest with his own forefinger and shouted," So, can't you just feel the music deep inside of you?"
Frank can't sing but they do have a music ensemble to go with your dinner meal on Saturday nights.
I asked Sashay Brown, the attractive cashier, about her Russian name. She said her mother just liked the sound of it. Her family is of Italian descent.
I guess that figures.
