Teens arrested for murder,
burglary at Top Hat home
October 19-Three juvenile burglars were arrested just a few hours after a man was shot and killed outside his Top Hat home.
King County Sheriff's Sgt. John Urquhart said detectives believe the man was shot by one of the burglars while interrupting a break-in at his home.
Urquhart said the victim, a 46 year-old contractor, apparently came back to his home in the 11000 block of 14th Avenue Southwest about 9 a.m.
He reportedly lived there with his two young children and girlfriend, none of whom were home at the time. One news account said he had just taken the children to school.
Detectives believe the three teenage burglars were in the house or just leaving as he arrived. At some point the man was shot at least once.
Major Crime Unit detectives arrested all three suspects within seven hours of the killing. Nearby Mt. View School was locked down for part of the day while deputies searched the area for the gunman.
Investigators believe the shooter is 15 years old.
