The family friendly Boo celebration in Burien on Saturday, Oct. 27 will unleash some howling good fun along Southwest 152nd Street from noon to 5 p.m.
Activities get under way with the fourth annual Costume Dog Parade, which will set paw in Olde Burien on Southwest 152nd Street in the block between Tenth Avenue Southwest and Ambaum Boulevard Southwest.
Register your decked-out canine at that location for a suggested donation of $2 between 11 a.m. and noon.
The parade starts at noon, and all participating pooches will receive goodie bags. Among the prizes for best dog costumes will be doggie daycare packages, pet gift cards and grooming.
A full cauldron of other activities will be conjured up at different times during Boo in Burien, which is sponsored by the Discover Burien Association. And tired hobgoblins may catch a free hayride along 152nd Street.
Before heading out to scare up some candy, grab a free trick-or-treat bag, sponsored by Burien Toyota. Businesses along 152nd Street will hand out goodies to trick-or-treaters from 1 to 3 p.m.
There will also be uncanny store specials.
The younger set may put on a ghostly face and compete in the Kids Costume Contest at B-Town Scoop from 1 to 3 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for most original, scariest and cutest costume.
Contestants must register at B-Town, 917 S.W. 152nd St. in Olde Burien. Winners will be chosen and contacted after the contest ends. And don't miss free samples of B-Town's tasty spiced pumpkin ice cream.
Between 1 and 3 p.m., perform eerie artistry and carve or paint a pumpkin at Elliott Bay Brewhouse & Pub, 255 S.W. 152nd St. Participants get to take their spooky artworks home.
Expect goose bumps when Burien Little Theatre actors read Halloween stories for children at Burien Books, 643 S.W. 152nd St.
Then get thrilled and chilled at the haunted house at Moss Chiropractic, 612 S.W. 152nd St. For 14 years, Dr. Jonna Moss and her staff, family and patients have concocted this supernatural experience. While the haunted house is not gory, it is inappropriate for children ages 5 and younger, including babies.
