The city of Tukwila kicked off its centennial celebration on Jan. 8 on the top floor of a new parking garage at Westfield Southcenter Shopping Center.
At his first official event as the new mayor, Jim Haggerton announced that Tukwila is seeking to be declared the first heart--healthy city in the state.
He also outlined new economic developments throughout the city and declared Tukwila wants to be known for more than just traffic congestion and Southcenter.
"Tukwila will continue to be a safe, pedestrian-friendly community known for quality housing, open spaces and our sense of history," Haggerton said.
