TACOMA - Quick feet against cold shooting enabled the Evergreen Lutheran boys to storm away early en route to a 45-20 SeaTac League Class 2B basketball victory at Mount Rainier Lutheran High School Thursday night.
Josh Parker scored eight of his game high 11 points on the strength of two 3-point goals to rally his team to a14-4 first quarter lead. Holding the host Hawks to single-digit scoring in each of the four quarters, the Eagles (9-2 league, 13-6 overall) remained tied for second place in league with Rainier Christian behind league unbeaten Bear Creek as Western bi-district play beckoned.
Controlling the play throughout, Evergreen Lutheran was still looking to raise its level of performance.
"We've been waiting for our boys to play well all year," said EL head coach Dave Habeck. "We're winning a lot of games, but this team has a high end of play. We just haven't gotten there. We're trying to figure out how to make this click better."
Daniel Kurbis added nine points while Nathanael Holter notched eight points with nine rebounds and four steals. Six foot, threeinch Alex Hall grabbed 11 caroms.
