As a long-time resident of North Highline, I find most troubling the proposed annexation of our communities.
At the meetings on annexation that I have attended, I get the feeling and impression we as residents are not really getting our input into this mix.
Seattle and Burien are, as you might say, running the show as Seattle does not seem to want us unless they can receive the $1.3 million of state funding. Burien has many construction projects in process and that makes me wonder how much funding will Burien be able to provide for our needed services.
I surly do not want our area split up as progress is being made for the betterment of our area by the hard work of several, no many, people. Thank you.
Whoa! There is another alternative that has not been discussed as I feel it should be and that is incorporate and become our own city. Yes, taxes will increase. However, taxes will increase and service costs will increase if Seattle or Burien annex us. So let us keep our taxes in our own community.
Even if North Highline is classified a low-income, highly ethnic area, we have a great number of highly intelligent people that would be great leaders.
All we need is for this community is to stand up and be heard.
