The Fourth of July celebration of the United States Independence Day is past and I give a sigh of relief.
There is a change of the meaning of this day or the attitude we question. When, during my youth, I did not get the effect of this day until I became 18 years old and in a uniform aboard a ship sailing into the South Pacific Ocean to spend several years of my life during the WW2 period.
The celebration of this day is geared in a different way that is not too compatible to the purpose of this day and what it stands for.
I observed young people, certainly 18 years or older, in large groups using our streets to shoot of piles of fireworks without understanding the true meaning and purpose of the true meaning of this day.
Or they use rocket fireworks to shoot at each other and they seem to care less where or how much danger they are creating for themselves or the neighborhood.
I found my driveway, my yard and house roof covered with spent fireworks.
I feel thankful the day is over and my home is still intact.
