Team members from South King Fire and Rescue serve up another plate or two of their award-winning chili to some hungry customers. The South King team took on the Federal Way Police Department in a chili cook-off in the city September 27.
Hundreds gathered on a sunny Saturday morning at the Federal Way Farmer's September 27th for the Chili Cook-off between The Federal Way Police and Fire Departments.
City Council member Jeanne Burbidge along with King County Council member Pete Von Reichbauer and Keith Eldridge of KOMO-TV acted as tasting judges for the event. But it was the public that got to make the decision in the end.
From the start it appeared to be a close contest. The arresting flavor of the Police Department offering, with ingredients still secret, made for a quick digestive treat. It was gone faster than a felon on the lamb.
True to the nature of their work, the hottest plate in town belonged to the men and women who usually put out fires. The public comments included "delicious" "spicy" and "great flavor" The Federal Way Fire Department captured the Chili Cook-off trophy. Maybe if you ask, they'll publish the recipe on their website.
