sex offenders
It continues to be my observation that the truth is stretched and/or eliminated during political campaigns. That is particularly true in the campaign ad against Governor Gregoire in which the woman, supposedly a mother, feels she must keep watch over her child because sex offenders cannot be located due to Governor Gregoire's failed watch. I want it to be well known that Governor Gregoire has done more to maintain supervision of sex offenders that any Governor or Secretary of Department of Corrections in the history of tracking sex offenders in this state. As a former Community Corrections Officer, I was charged with the supervision of sex offenders in the community. If ankle bracelets were allowed during my supervision, I can tell you I would not have had nearly as many wakeful, fear-filled nights as I did. I applaud the work of Governor Gregoire. While mothers and fathers ought to maintain watch over their children because it is the right thing to do, parents cannot realistically keep watch over their children 100 percent of the time. That is why it is so important that Governor Gregoire is maintaining the best watch ever over convicted sex offenders.
