Change it Up
I'm for change, how 'bout you?
We all could do with something new
But do we know exactly who
Or what this change will really do?
This word has trickled like the rain
Through every candidate's campaign
But I'm compelled to still complain
That I don't know how we will gain
Besides more change back from the store
The one change I would most adore
Is for those running to be more
Precise about the change they're for
That rhetoric they all now spread
In place of facts, finds fault instead
And only serves to make me dread
The choice that waits for me ahead
When negative campaign machines
Encourage these contrary schemes
They just replay the same old themes
And too alike, they seem to seem
The more they spend to hurt another
Less is their difference from each other
And in the end, lie neath the cover
Of just the same old costly lover
With every insult that's exchanged
The process just grows more deranged
And leaves me angry and estranged
For in the end, we're all short changed
