West Seattle residents now have a cyber-gym in which to pursue their fitness goals. The facility, located in Jefferson Square, is a high-tech establishment that offers state-of-the-art equipment and support.
It opened for business on Nov. 12.
Developed as an alternative to the "big box" gyms, owners MJ Benovente and Jim Flynn, both West Seattle residents, have created a clean, convenient and secure environment.
Members receive 24-hour accessibility to the business and the place is full of cameras and infared sensors. Customers receive a keycard to get into the gym on their own schedule, as opposed to pre-determined hours.
Fees amount to approximately one dollar per day. There are no contracts and customers can freeze their membership at any time and use the remainder at a future date.
"The affordability and convenience of Snap Fitness is something that we're very excited to offer West Seattleites and we invite everyone to come in and give us a try," said Benovente.
Trainers give a fitness assessment to determine where each customer is on their course to getting in shape. Tanning beds are also available, saving a trip to the salon.
Work stations are composed of Cybex ARC cross-training machines, free weights and plasma-screen televisions.
On staff is a certified fitness professional, Kris Klohe.
The club doors are locked at all times and members enter to a dizzying display of technology. There are door alarms, panic alarms and portable alarms that members can keep with them during their workouts.
With an abundance of machines, there is little waiting. Fitness buffs can choose whatever they want to work with and don't have to worry about spending time in line to use the equipment.
