Former Tukwila Mayor Steve Mullet is the first recipient of the newly established Alumni Hall of Fame at Foster High School.
Mullet graduated in 1961 and continued on to the University of Washington. He is a long time resident of the Tukwila School District.
He served on the Tukwila City Council from 1992 until 2000 when he was elected mayor. He served two terms as mayor.
Mullet was recognized for his contributions to the school district and the city, according to hall of fame officials.
As a parent of three Foster graduates, Scott in 1987, Mark in 1990 and Matt in 1997, Mullet and his wife, Bonnie, were always very active in school related activities such as the Foster Site Council and service organizations at the elementary and middle school level.
Mullet also ran a construction company prior to becoming mayor. He is still active with Tukwila educational and social groups.
He was recognized at a reception beginning in the Commons at Foster, and during halftime at the Homecoming football game, Oct. 10, at Werner Neudorf Stadium.
It is only fitting that he be recognized during halftime as he spent many years cooking up the famous "Booster Burgers" at the home games, hall of fame officials noted.
Foster's National Honor Society is responsible for the selection and induction of Foster's Alumni Hall of Fame.
