The Council for Resource Development has selected Dan Altmayer as the 2008 Campus Impact Award recipient for his volunteer efforts as a Highline Community College Foundation board member. _
"This is quite an honor," said Altmayer. "It reflects on the strength of our board, the institution, and the belief of the community and their support of our college."__
Altmayer received his award Nov. 6, during the council's annual conference in Washington, D.C.
The national award recognizes the efforts of individuals or teams who have made a significant impact on a community college and/or the students it serves.
__"Clearly this award is well deserved and a great recognition of Dan's leadership on our foundation board and in our community," said Dr. Jack Bermingham, Highline's president.
As vice chair of the foundation's fundraising committee, Altmayer successfully led efforts to raise $2.5 million to build Highline's new Marine Science and Technology Center and create an operating endowment. _
"Highline's first capital campaign, to build Highline's Marine Science and Technology Center, was a success because of the direct leadership role of Dan," wrote Lisa Skari, vice president for Institutional Advancement, and Rod Stephenson, foundation executive director, in the nomination letter.
