The flag located at the intersection of Des Moines Memorial Drive and Marine View Drive has been without lighting for many months.

I e-mailed the city manager only to be told that he would pass it on to public works. The flag continues flying after sunset in the dark.

What an embarrassment to see Veteran's Day come and go with our city's flag alone in the dark.

While you're looking at the lights, drive down the city's main street and count the street lights that are extinguished.

Leadership, responsibility and respect--are these values lost?
