Our thanks to everyone who attended the first annual Andy MacDonald memorial soccer game held Saturday, Nov. 29 at Highline Memorial Stadium.
It was a great success pitting the Highline alumni boys against the Highline alumni girls (with a little help from friends on both teams). The boys won the game by a score of 3 - 2, but the girls have promised to come back harder next year!
Through your generous donations and a raffle drawing held at Mick Kelly's Irish Pub after the game, we raised $4,400, which was presented on Wednesday, Dec. 3 to the Andy MacDonald EMT Scholarship Fund at Puget Sound Skills Center -Firefighting program.
The scholarship assists two students in the Fire Fighting program at PSSC to attend EMT training.
In 2004/2005, Andy attended the Firefighting program and completed EMT training while in the program. It was his dream to become a firefighter, and our goal is to assist other students who wish to become firefighters.
Special thanks to Dawn Peterson, Dylan Peterson and Andrea Williamson for rallying the troops and pulling the event together.
Thanks to Highline School district, Mick Kelly's Irish Pub, Coach Zen, the players, the referees who volunteered their time, the fire instructors and cadets of PSSC and businesses & friends who helped with raffle prizes, water for the players, field usage fees, flyers, pictures, etc. We thank you all!
We look forward to seeing everyone at next year's game!
