Overview

The West Seattle High School Parent Teacher Student Association is proud to present the West Seattle 5K Run/Walk. This family-friendly event on May 31 showcases the West Seattle community and raises awareness of and funds for West Seattle public school PTA/PTSA's.
 
We are holding the event in conjunction with the city of Seattle and Celebrate Seattle Summer Streets (formerly known as “car-free day”) on Alki. The city is closing down the street to traffic for the entire day and is making the West Seattle 5K Run/Walk in the morning a cornerstone of their plans for the day.

The city is featuring our event prominently in all of their press releases and other marketing materials. In addition, we are promoting the event through advertising in NW Runner magazine and in giveaway bags at other area running events, such as the Mercer Island Half Marathon, Active.com, and other event listings.
 
The West Seattle 5K Run/Walk is primarily a fundraiser for the West Seattle High School PTSA. The PTSA will generate funds through registration fees, business sponsorships, and direct donations. In addition, we have established partnerships with Chief Sealth High School, Madison Middle School, and Roxhill Elementary, which enable these schools to participate in the fundraising aspect of the West Seattle 5K by promoting the event at their schools and helping us with student registrations. In exchange for their participation, the PTA/PTSAs can collect cash donations in their school’s name through our online and mail-in registration and donations systems through Active.com.
 
Sponsorships

We are currently soliciting sponsorships from the West Seattle business community and beyond.  We have three sponsorship levels that include various benefits, such as onsite presence at the event and logo placement on our marketing materials, Web site, and giveaway t-shirt. If members of the business community are interested in sponsoring this event, they should contact event organizers at info@westseattle5k.com.
 
Registration

Our registration fees reflect the family-oriented nature of our event. Families are encouraged to participate together and jogging strollers are welcome. The registration fees for the event are as follows:
 
·         Adult Walk or Run - $30 until May 15; $35 thereafter
·         Student (18 and under) Walk or Run - $20 until May 15; $25 thereafter
·         6 and under - Free
·         Playing Hookey - Don't want to run?  Sleep in and make a $25 donation
 
All adult and student participants will receive a cool technical T-shirt with the event and sponsor logos.
 
You can use online or mail-in registration. There is a fee for all online registrations – you can avoid the fee by mailing in your registration.
 
Donations

When you register online, you can setup a fundraising page on Active.com. From this page, you can send invitations to family and friends to support your efforts and donate to the West Seattle 5K.
