Howard H. Arnold, Jr.

Howard H. Arnold, Jr. ("Hap"), age 83, long time resident of Federal Way, Washington, passed away March 2, 2007, at Highline Medical Center in Burien, Washington, after a long illness.

From his childhood, when he spent 75 cents for an airplane ride in his boyhood home of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, he envisioned a career in aerospace.

Proudly served during WWII in the USMC. Earned Bachelor of Mechanical

Engineering from Ohio State University on the GI Bill. He worked for The Boeing Company in Seattle before beginning a 33-year career with Pan American World Airways (1955-1988) as a Flight Engineer Officer.

He was passionate about aircraft and flying. After retiring, he kept in touch with his many friends around the world. In his later years, he truly enjoyed watching his grandchildren as they grew.

Loving husband, father, and grandfather, Hap is survived by his wife of over fifty-three years, Helen Clare; sons, Jeff (Carolyn) and Chris (Dina); grandchildren Rachel and Matthew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard H. and Phelena P. Arnold, and half-brother Leonard L. Arnold.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 23rd at 4pm at Price-Helton Funeral Home, 702 Auburn Way North, Auburn, WA 98002 (phone 253-833-1165).
