Margaret (Peggy) Eichholtz

A long time resident of Federal Way, Margaret (Peggy) Eichholtz, passed away at Point Defiance Village in Tacoma on May 27, 2007. Peggy was the only child of the late James and Leila Austin of Seattle, WA. She was born in August 1920 and lived in Seattle up to and including graduating from the University of Washington.

She is survived by her husband, Philip and four children: James W., William P. of Federal Way, Philip A. of California and her only daughter Olivia Williams of Walla Walla, WA, and six wonderful grandchildren. Peggy did graduate work at the University of Indiana earning a degree in Dietetics. She enlisted in the Army Air Corps in WWII as a first lieutenant becoming a dietician in the Army Convalescent Hospital Command. During her marriage of almost 60 years she worked extensively with her husband in the retail lumber and hardware business in Federal Way. Her interests were many and varied.

As she raised her family she volunteered in garden clubs, PTAs, fund raising drives and was a member of PEO. She enjoyed golf, bridge and studying Spanish and spent many hours enjoying the family beach home at Key Center, WA. Dancing was a favorite activity and her expertise gave her the opportunity of cruising the Western Hemisphere with her husband as instructors and assistant cruise directors. In early retirement years she traveled extensively and lived many winters in Yuma, AZ.

Peggy was truly a wonderful person with a great sense of humor who was the very best wife, mother, grandmother and radiated love, joy and friendship to those around her. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Historical Society of Federal Way, PO BOX 25430, Federal Way, Wa 98093 or to Multicare Hospice Care Services, PO BOX 5200, Tacoma WA 98415.
