Michael was born May 24, 1920 in Tacoma, WA. He passed away peacefully at the Washington State Veterans Home in Retsil, WA on April 28, 2006 at the age of 85. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Harriet, son Clifford and step-son Michael Lee.
He was on PT Boat 459 during the WWII invasion at Normandy. He married and had four sons. Later he joined the Coast Guard. In 1958 he married Harriet, moved to South Seattle and had two daughters. The last few years, while in the Coast Guard he set the buoys for the Seafair Hydroplane races. Later, he was an electrician for Todd shipyards. He retired from the military with over 20 years of service. He was a fix-it man, an avid reader; self taught, learned to use the computer, and studied Spanish. He liked people. In 1985 he and Harriet moved to Ballard. He enjoyed music, cooking, gardening, and caring for animals. Michael and Harriet were devoted to each other for 41 years of marriage.
Michael is survived by three daughters; four sons, a sister, a brother, fourteen Grandchildren and seven Great Grandchildren.
A military graveside service will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery May 11th at 11:00. At 2:00 a Church service will be held at Fairwood United Methodist Church, 15255 SE Fairwood Blvd., Renton WA 98058. Donations may be made to the Church or any Veterans group.
