Kathryn Wick

Born October 25, 1912 in Seattle. She passed away on August 23, 2006 in Shoreline. Kathryn was raised in Ballard and also graduated from Ballard High School. After graduation, she attended Seattle Business College. She was working at Lafferty's drugstore as a soda jerk and met her future husband, Leonard Wick a lifetime resident of Ballard. They married in August of 1934, together they had three children: Leonard, Herbert and Karen.

Kathryn has been an active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Ballard for 80 years. She was very active in the community with helping out in Cub Scouts, Blue Birds, Camp Fire, Sunday School, and many other family related activities while working as a bookkeeper for General Welding. After her children were raised she became an avid bowler, card player and lawn bowler.

She also liked to travel a lot with the Alaskan Camper Club, as well as traveling to Norway and England to visit ancestral roots. After Kathryn moved to Foundation House she met many friends who shared the love of playing cards. Her greatest joy of all was her loving family and spending time with them.

Kathryn is survived by her children: Herb (Sharon), daughter in law Marcia, Karen (David) Jones. She is survived by ten grandchildren, Christine (Sam) Stevens, Eric (Robin) Wick, Leonard (Michelle) Wick, Nicole (Trent), Daniel, Matthew (Amy), Kathryn (Derek) Simokowiak, Laura, Michael and Tucker (Stacy) Jones. She is survived by nine great grandchildren: Joshua, Jacob, Anders, Amerissa, Alexis, Erika, Ceinwein, Alexandria, Lavinia and her sister Mary Fahey of California. She is preceded in death by her husband Leonard and also her son Leonard. A visitation was held Friday, Sept. 1, 2006 at Wiggen and Sons Funeral Home, 2003 N.W. 57th St. in Ballard. A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 2nd at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 5710 22nd Ave. in Ballard.

A reception followed at the church service. Memorial contributions may be made to: Crista Ministries, St. Luke's Memorial Fund, the Union Gospel Mission or the Millionaires Club. Arrangements entrusted to Wiggen and Sons Funeral Home.
