Terry Heath Zacharias

3-27-37 - 1-19-08

Terry died peacefully at home in Greenwood surrounded by family.

Born in Chicago to Leonard and Dickie Zacharias, his family moved to Seattle when he was four years old. While attending Greenwood Elementary School, he was active in the Boy Scouts of America and delivered the Seattle Times. Shortly after graduating from Ballard High School, he enrolled in the Air Force where he spent his five years of military service split between Mississippi and Eastern Washington.

He married the love of his life in 1968, and was employed by Pacific Northwest Bell/US West/Qwest for 35 years. After having the two daughters that he hoped for, he enjoyed spending time outdoors with his family hiking, fishing, canoeing and camping. Once retired, he volunteered with the Telephone Pioneers of America and traveled extensively with his wife through Europe, Central America and both coasts of Canada. Terry viewed his family as his greatest gift and chose to spend as much time with them as possible. He will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, his ability to know a little bit about everything, and neighborhood margarita nights.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Adrienne; his two daughters Sile (Eric) and Sabra (Christopher); and his brother Stephen (Karen) of Idaho. He leaves behind two grandchildren, Roisin and Declan, numerous nieces and nephews, and a large circle of friends.

We miss him more than we can say, and the hole left by his death will never be filled. A Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. on Feb. 1, and a Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 2. Both to be at Christ the King Church, 405 N 117th St. in Seattle. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Group Health Hospice 206-287-4645 and the Matt Talbot Center 206-256-9865.
