Man taken for $26,000 by con artists
1. Federal Way police made contact with complainant Jason K. Choi, who relayed information regarding a confidence scam of which he had been a victim. The incident took place at the victim's bank, located at 31827 Pacific Highway South. The report states that Choi was approached by two Asian males claiming to be from a charity. They convinced Choi to withdraw money from his accounts. The vicimt told officers that he gave the two suspects $26,000 as a collateral for a promised $1,000,000 to be distributed as a charity to local churches. The suspects disappeared after he gave them his money. Choi told Federal Way officers that he initially met the suspects in Tacoma. Federal Way police told Choi that he needed to file a report there, because Tacoma is the point of origin for the crime. Choi removed the money from his account around 3:30 p.m. on the afternoon of August 12. No additional suspect information is listed in the report and officers have closed the case pending new leads.
Roommates concerned after friend doesn't return from giving blood
2. Federal Way police took a statement for a possible missing persons report at noon on August 12. Jeanene Razincka contacted Federal Way police when her roommate, Maria Champion, did not return home after going to donate blood. The pair live in an apartment complex located at 35205 25th Avenue Southwest. Razincka told officers that this is not Champion's normal behavior, and that neither her friends nor her family have been able to contact her. Her friends believe she is not suicidal, but they believe Champion suffers from an infliction (the name of which has been removed from the report). Champion is currently not under a doctor's care, nor is she taking any medication. Champion's last known location was the plasma center in Federal Way. No additional information is listed in the report.
Wal-Mart store hit by shoplifter
3. Federal Way officers arrived at the scene of a shoplifting incident that took place at the Wal-Mart discount store, located at 1900 South 314th Street. The incident took place around 9:30 p.m. on the evening of August 12. Federal Way police made contact with loss prevention officer Charles Webb of Wal-Mart in the security office. Webb told Federal Way police that at around 9:04 p.m., an unknown white male had been dropped off in front of the Wal-Mart store by a gray-colored four-door car. The male then went into the electronics department and selected a computer. The suspect put the computer in his cart, then made his way to the garden center, where he quickly exited the store through a fire exit without making any attempt to pay for the computer. There is no additional suspect information listed in the report.
Man leaves home unlocked for a couple of hours, returns home to find he's been robbed
4. Federal Way police arrived at the scene of a home burglary that had took place at an apartment complex located at 27606 Pacific Highway South. Victim Lorenzo Sanchez Gomez told Federal Way police that he had left his residence for a couple of hours. He left the door unlocked because he was planning to return home quickly. When he arrived back at his home, he discovered that someone had gained access to his home through the unlocked door and stolen several items from inside. These items included a silver Acer computer, valued at $700; as well as a gold ring, valued at $1,800.00 The incident took place sometime around 8 p.m. on the evening of August 12. There are no witnesses to the crime, nor is there any suspect information. There will be no further investigation pending new leads.
Assault involving two drivers takes place under I-5 overpass
5. Federal Way police arrived at the scene of an assault involving a victim, David Smith, and an unknown suspect. The incident took place in the middle of roadway on Highway 18 under the I-5 overpass. The event occurred around 10:40 p.m. on the evening of August 12. Smith told Federal Way police that he was exiting the Wal-Mart parking lot and turning on 16th Avenue South. He then passed a newer black pickup truck. The driver of the truck followed Smith onto eastbound Highway 18. The victim told officers that the truck passed him, pulled in front of him, then slammed on his brakes. The victim then said a white male in his 30s exited the truck and came over to his car window. Smith exited his vehicle, and the suspect kicked him. No additional information regarding the suspect is available in the report. Officers have closed the case pending new leads.
Strange man leaves bicycle in Federal Way yard
6. Federal Way police took a statement from the residents of a home on the 30400 block of 3rd Place South regarding a suspicious unknown male standing in their front yard. The incident took place around 2:45 a.m. on the morning of August 11. According to the witnesses' statements, the unknown male left the scene bound for an unknown location. The owner of the home noticed a strange bicycle in his yard where the suspicious male had been standing. The homeowner did not recognize the bicycle. A serial number of the bicycle show that it had not been reported stolen. The bicycle was booked into evidence as found property.
