Des Moines City Councilman Dave Kaplan made a strong showing in the Tuesday primary in his race against fellow council member Susan White.
In Tuesday election night final results, King County Elections reported Kaplan received 1,447 votes (51.68 percent) and White garnered 945 votes (33.75 percent.
Kaplan had withdrawn his filing for his current council position to file against White for Position 7.
Kaplan has touted his ‘sound thoughtful and reasoned analysis and debate.” White has cited her council accomplishments in helping to get Beach Park on the landmark National Register and advocating for foot ferry service.
The two will meet in a rematch on the November general election ballot.
Real estate agent Chris Alexander was eliminated from the race after receiving 398 votes (14.21 percent) in election night final results.
Another interesting general election race is shaping up for Des Moines council, Position 1.
Sales representative Anne Farmer bested Matt Pina in election night final results. Farmer received 1,104 votes (39.71 percent) while Pina received 952 votes (34.24 percent.)
As former Highline School Board president and son of outgoing councilman Ed Pina, Matt Pina perhaps had the edge in name familiarity.
Highline middle-school teacher John D. Burdine received 714 votes (25.68 percent) and will not go on to the general election.
In Tukwila, planning commission member and former councilman Allan Ekberg received 536 votes (55.37 percent) for council Position 3. Pam Linder did not seek reelection.
Real estate consultant Jeremy J. Eide received 229 votes (23.66 percent) and Western Washington University business graduate David Weaver received 191 votes (19.73 percent) in votes counted on election night.
In Port of Seattle Commission, Position 3 results, Rob Holland with 50.93 percent of the votes and David Doud, 33.10 percent, will move on the general election. Al Yuen, with 15.47 percent, was eliminated from the race.
For Position 4, Tom Albro received 38.72 percent; Max Vekich, 26.75 percent; Robert Walker, 24.70 percent and Juan Paraiso, 9.33 percent.
In the race for North Highline Fire District commissioner, Position 3, Ray Austin with 46.89 percent, will face David Lawson, 30.88 percent. Peggy Noble received 21.73 percent.
For South King Fire and Rescue, Position 3, John Rickert received 42.64 percent, while J. Roger Hershey received 28.78 percent and Jerry P. Harris received 28.16 percent in votes counted by the end of election night.
In the race for King County Executive, King County Council Chairman Dow Constantine, who represents much of the Highline area, received 22.41 percent and will face former TV news anchor Susan Hutchison, who received 37.37 percent, in the November election.
Burien investor Goodspaceguy received 2,368 votes (1.34 percent.)
