Melba Francis Pike, A much-loved mother and grandmother died peacefully on January 25, 2006 at age 88. Melba was born in Dillon, Montana, May 14, 1917 to Don and Beth Francis. She had one sister, Della. Melba married Gerald Zebarth in 1937 and had two sons, Donald and Gary. Later, she remarried Verne Pike and in 1948 moved to Seattle where she and Verne had a son, LaVerne. They lived in White Center for 50 years. Melba spent most of her life as a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her son, Donald and her husband, Verne. Melba was always willing to serve where there was a need. She had many interests, mostly in her grandchildren. She thought playing cribbage was a good way to teach them to add. She also loved to bowl and play pinochle with special friends. Her embroidery and crochet handwork were very beautiful. She collected hundreds of deer figurines and knew who gave her each one. She was a member of Grace Church where she loved serving coffee after church each week. She had ten grandchildren, Tony Zebarth, Dawnita Hitchcock, Paul Zebarth (wife, Trish), Jim Zebarth (wife, Teri), Anna Pike, Nicholas Pike (wife, Missy, Jordan Pike, Rachel Pike, Seth Pike and adopted grandson, Scott Kelly (wife, Heather) Nine Great Grandchildren- Dustin, Tyler, Amanda, Brandon, Rebecca, Adam, Aysha, Josiah, and Trayton. Melba will be interred at Riverton Crest Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, 2 p.m. at Grace Church, 10323 28th Avenue SW. in Seattle.
