James William Chidgey, our father, grandfather and friend left this life on December 25, 2005. He will be remembered by his family as a father who loved us deeply throughout all our lives.
Jim was born on June 24, 1927 in Clark Mills, New York. He and his family moved to Seattle in October 1942. He graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1947 after spending two years in the Navy during WWII. Jim lived in Seattle until October of 2001,when he moved to San Diego, California.
Jim worked as a land surveyor for the City of Seattle for 30 years and the Millionaire's Club for twelve years. He made many lifelong friends and will be remembered for his outgoing personality and jovial spirit. He was also an avid photographer.
Jim shared a deep love and marriage with Inez LaRayne Johnson, who passed away in 1976, and Elizabeth Crow until 1984. He is survived by his brother Jack and sister-in-law Doris and seven nieces and nephews. His daughters Karen Beck and Linda Pitman and his son-in-law Herb Beck Jr. and five grandchildren, Herbie, Emma, Kristen, Eric and Brittany.
A service of remembrances and celebration will be held at Peace Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. 8316 39th Avenue S.W. Seattle on March 11. In lieu of flowers please send memorial gifts to Horizon Hospice, Poway California or The Millionaire's Club, Seattle.
