Willardine "Billie" Adair Nevins, 97, formerly of West Seattle, passed away February 21, 2006. She was born June 14, 1908 in Baring, Washington. Billie grew up in logging camps around the Pacific Northwest. As a teenager she lived in Seattle and attended Cornish School of Arts. As an adult she worked for the Doghouse Caf/ in Seattle. Later she became the cook at many local restaurants; Green Hat Caf/, Granite Falls, the Blue Bird and Steak House, Arlington, Skyline Broiler, Everett and she finished her career and retired from Sea-Tac Airport Employees' Restaurant, Seattle. Her banana cream pies were legendary throughout the region.
Billie was a devoted fan of Seattle's sport teams from the Seattle Rainiers to Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Mariners. Her love of sports was passed on to all of her grandchildren. You could count on her at Chief Sealth baseball and football games on to college games watching Eastern Washington University, Yakima C. C. and Western Washington University. Her love of sports never faltered throughout her 97 years and if you knew her, you knew she was a Mariner fan.
Billie was a long time resident of West Seattle. After retirement she enjoyed bowling in three leagues at West Seattle Bowl. She volunteered at the Puget Sound Blood Bank and was an active member of the West Seattle Senior Center. Of course, there was always time for lunch with the "girls" at many Junction cafes.
Billie leaves her two daughters and their spouses; Sheila (Steve) Anderson of Marysville, and Kathleen (Tom) Fair of West Seattle; six grandchildren, Terry, Eric, Shannon, Shawn, Randy and Sharon; 11 great-grandchildren, Mason, Evan. Liam. Olivia, Gabrielle, Madeline, Kristine, Karina, Amy, Cosette and Alina; three great-great-grandchildren, Kalene, T. J., and Nathan. She also leaves a niece, Marilyn (Frank) Price, Jr. of Friday Harbor. Billie's two children, Bill Dresser and Diane Dresser preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 2, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Evergreen-Washelli in Seattle followed by a reception. Memorials may be made to Providence Hospice of Snohomish County, 2731 Wetmore Ave, Everett, Washington 98201.
