Born in Columbus, North Dakota on May 23, 1918. Died on March 19, 2006 surrounded by his loving family. He spent his early years in Minot, North Dakota and learned to play all sports, including ice hockey on the frozen ponds. He hopped a freight train heading to the West coast when he was a teenager and settled in Everett with his Dad. His love of sports, especially basketball, opened doors for him and led to a full scholarship at WSU where he led the Cougars in scoring from 1938-1940 and was referred to as a "flashy ball handler". Bud joined the army in 1943 and served overseas during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. His love of people led to a career in sales. Bud loved the game of golf with his buddies at West Seattle, billiards, basketball, and a rousing game of cards. He had a warm smile for everyone he encountered and was always willing to help someone in need. Bud was a deacon at West Side Presbyterian Church and actively involved in his church family. He cherished his family and is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Eunice; sister Adair Nelson; sons Denny (Jenna) and Neal (Randi); grandchildren Jarrett (Paula), Bryce (Malissa), Melissa (Joe) Ulu, Erik, Lucas; and great-grandsons Nathaniel and Brock; and nephews and nieces. A memorial service To celebrate Bud's life was held on Thursday, March 23 at 11 am, at West Side Presbyterian Church in West Seattle.
