Kennedy 49, Mt. Rainier 18
Kennedy Catholic High School got the best of crosstown rival Mount Rainier Thursday, Oct. 29 at Highline Memorial Stadium.
The Lancers of JFK led, 21-6, by the end of the first quarter and widened it to 28-6 by halftime. Mount Rainier then outscored Kennedy Catholic, 6-0, in both the third and fourth quarters to close the final margin to 49-18.
Antonio Valencia started off the onslaught with two touchdowns early in the first quarter, scoring on runs of 89 and 8 yards. Christian Velte kicked both extra points for a 14-0 JFK lead.
Junior Jack of Mount Rainier broke the string with a 45-yard fumble return for a touchdown with 4:27 left in the quarter, but the Lancers came right back with five touchdowns in a row.
Valencia scored again on a 35-yard run and Velte made the kick to get the new string started, then teammate Darian Brooks scored on a 20-yard run and a 47-yard run with Velte successful again.
Chandler Breaux scored on a 4-yard pass from Jason Thompson with 3:19 to go in the first half and Vince McCluskey struck on a 10-yard pass from Thompson at the 1:15 mark. Velte also made both ensuing PAT kicks.
Mount Rainier then scored at 5:05 in the third quarter and 6:35 in the fourth – with Nuu Vaifale striking on an 18-yard run and a 5-yard pass from Caleb Saulo. The Rams tried and failed on two-point conversion tries after each touchdown.
Valencia gained 162 yards on nine carries and scored three touchdowns and Brooks gained 93 yards on four carries with two touchdowns.
Jason Thompson completed 6 of 8 passes for 131 yards and two touchdowns and L.J. Jennings caught two passes for 72 yards with McCluskey catching three for 55 yards and one touchdown.
Stephon Vaifale of Mount Rainier gained 93 yards on 20 carries and Saulo completed 15 of 23 passes for 177 yards. Nuu Vaifale caught eight passes for 97 yards.

Evergreen could only muster two points on a safety in Friday action.
Renton 36, Highline 0
The Pirates were blanked by the Indians Friday.
Sammamish 28, Foster 13
Sammamish topped the Bulldogs in a non-league game Friday.

Tonesha Kleiner scored four goals to help lift the Pirates to victory over the Bulldogs and Kaitlyn Mendoza added two. Mansary and Alana Lopez combined for the shutout.

Rebekah Kurle had two goals and one assist for the Lancers and Danielle Bojorquez also scored two goals.

The Wolverines suffered a 5-0 shutout loss against Renton.

Christina Postnikoff had 14 assists, Kathleen Mulligan seven kills and Olivia Moss six kills. Maletina Timoteo led with four aces.

Foster played in the game for fifth and sixth and lost, 14-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-21.

The Lancers and the Rams played a wild semifinal match Monday, Oct. 26 which JFK took, 25-23, 25-23, 22-25, 18-25, 16-14.
Postnikoff had three aces and 35 assists for the Rams and Timoteo had 16 digs.

Evergreen won the other semifinal against the Pirates.

Foster prevailed in a consolation match by a 3-1 score.
