Shirley Ann Edwards

Shirley Ann Edwards was born in Juneau, Alaska on May 6, 1932 to Albert and Lempi Edwards. She passed on the beautiful, sunny morning of May 13, 2006, after a long battle with Emphysema. She was preceded in death by her husband, Erich Siegfried Ventur, her son, Timothy Ernest Ventur, and all eight of her beloved brothers and sisters. She is survived by son, Thomas Erich Ventur, daughter, Laurie Marie Fuller and her husband, Randal Fuller, grandchildren Christopher, Beccie, Eric, and Jessica, great grandchildren Damon and Ashley, and many nieces and nephews. Shirley graduated valedictorian of Douglas High School in Alaska in 1950. She was the editor in chief of her high school paper, part of a singing trio, and planned to attend nursing college in Hawaii with her best friend, Terry Snethen. Both met and married before they could fulfill that dream and settled in West Seattle. They have remained lifetime friends. Shirley was a long-time member of the New Apostolic church and credited her faith for the many obstacles she overcame during her lifetime. Her strength, her wit, her humor, and the love and support she was known for will be missed by all. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to everyone for their support and comfort and would also like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of Lifecare Center of Burien for the love, care, and support they bestowed to Shirley and her family throughout her residence. Although you'll be missed, Mom, we know this isn't goodbye. The foundation of faith laid within us by you and Dad will help sustain us until we meet again. Remembrances can be made to the New Apostolic Church or the American Lung Association.
