A man with a history of aggressive panhandling in the Morgan Junction area was taken into custody recently after he cornered a group of teenaged girls at Starbucks. Other patrons alerted nearby officers, who arrested the intoxicated North End resident (whose charms included an injured hand that was dripping blood) for investigation of criminal trespass.
Apparently the sight of his ex at a Qwest field event was enough to trigger a man's obsession to win her back: He made 200 calls, left 10 text messages and 7 voice messages on her cell phone. He also threatened to fight the West Seattle woman's male relatives who told him to quit contacting her. An officer spoke with the North End resident who admitted he had called the woman, oh, “20-30 times.” The suspect was warned that any further contact might result in prosecution.
In the same vein, a Ballard woman—apparently dismayed when her ex (a West Seattle resident) married soon after their breakup—has been sending harassing text messages to him. They recently turned threatening, including instructions for him to “watch his back.” Officials will be notified if the threats continue, and the victim has been urged to get a court order.
A local woman “hooked up” with a Ellensburg man on the Internet, through Facebook. The two went out to dinner and he spent the night. The next morning, as he was getting dressed, he accused her of stealing some pills from his coat pocket. He began screaming and threw her against a closet door. She called 911 and described the vehicle he was driving. An officer picked up the suspect, noted that the victim's injuries matched the incident she described, and booked the 37-year-old into King County Jail for investigation of misdemeanor assault.
Officers became suspicious of a vehicle that was parked illegally in an alley near the 800 block of S. Cloverdale. A records check showed that the car was registered to a man in his 60s, but inside was a 29-year-old. During questioning, the man began to shake--likely because he was wanted on a $10,000 warrant and was carrying meth, marijuana, a stolen pistol and five live rounds of large pistol ammo. The suspect's comment on the proceedings? “This day just keeps getting worse,” he said forlornly to officers.
Fifteen incidents of domestic violence were reported in greater West Seattle last week.
