Long time resident Jimmie Dawson McClenaghan passed away on August 16th at the age of 81.
Born January 22, 1925 in Garnett, Kansas, Jimmie was the eldest child of Aubrie Dias and Edna Belle Dawson McClenaghan.
A graduate of Selah High School in 1943, Jimmie began service in the United States Navy immediately after graduation. While in the service he was stationed in the South Pacific.
Upon completion of his military service Jimmie enrolled at Yakima Junior College where he studied for two years. Jimmie then enrolled at the University of Washington and earned his Bachelors of Business Administration, graduating in 1950.
Shortly after graduation Jimmie was employed at Boeing where he worked as a buyer. He remained at Boeing for 34 years until his retirement in February 1985. Jimmie loved Seattle and enjoyed opportunities to share his city with visiting family and friends. In retirement, Jimmie traveled extensively and enjoyed time with his many friends. Jimmie always had a ready smile and a gracious manner. He was a true gentleman who treated everyone with respect.
Jimmie was preceded I in death by his father and mother; long time friend, Leon "Sam" Abele and sister, Evelyn Hornbuckle. He is survived by sisters, Glenna Hall of Brownsville, Oregon and Claramae Warner of Yachats, Oregon; brother, Gary McClenaghan of Yakima, Washington; numerous nieces, nephews and a great many friends.
Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., August 23, 2006 at Forest Lawn Funeral Chapel, 6701 30th Ave SW, Seattle. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
