A lifetime resident of West Seattle, Linda passed away on July 11th at home, surrounded by her family, after a three year struggle with ovarian cancer.

Linda was born in West Seattle. She went to Jefferson and Fairmount Park Elementary Schools, Louisa Boren Junior High, and West Seattle High School. She met the love of her life, Carl Weer in high school. After graduation in 1973, Linda went to cosmetology school and became a stylist. She and Carl bought their house in West Seattle and were married in their living room in March 1978. Their son, Luke, was born Christmas Day, 1981, "the best Christmas present anyone could ask for."

Linda devoted herself to taking care of Carl and Luke; she liked to be busy, participating in co-op preschool, t-ball, little league and school activities. She volunteered to help run a before-school PE program at Schmitz Park while Luke was there, coached soccer, kept score for Little League, and helped friends and family with all kinds of projects. Friends considered her a "professional volunteer." Linda loved to help!

Linda, Carl and Luke spent much of their family time outdoors-camping, hunting, golfing and fishing. Linda was an avid golfer and played in several golf leagues. She was very proud of her 1983 hole in one at Snoqualmie Falls Golf Course! Linda considered any time spent with "my Carl" and "my Luke" the best!

Linda worked for Boeing, for the Seattle Public Schools, as her chiropractor's receptionist, and at Mono Roofing. Linda had a wonderful ability to make and keep friends from every part of her life.

She liked to travel and see new places (between her cancer treatments she enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Florida, Sun Valley, Arizona and West Virginia!), hunt and fish, play soccer, cut hair, red a good romance novel, make quilts, scrapbook photos of her beloved Carl and Luke, and spent time with her large family and multitude of friends.

In April 2003, Linda was diagnosed with ovarian caner and spent the last 3 years enduring several rounds of chemo, surgery and radiation with courage, dignity and a sense of humor. She didn't like to complain and when asked how she felt, would always say "I'm good." Always the first to volunteer to help others, she found it hard to accept help during her illness, but friends and family found ways to get her to accept. Because she spent much of that time bald, she was thankful that she had a nice round head and looked good in hats

Linda was the second of seven daughters born to Al and Shirley Taylor, and in addition to Carl and Luke, is survived by her parents and sisters, Sharon (Steve) Wilme, Debbie (Greg) Cain, Becky (Mike) Waltz, Nancy (Dan) Koehler, Laurie (Roy) Collier, Marsha (Brian) Sheedy and their families. She is also survived by her husband's father, Carlton Weer, and sisters, Barbara Dominick-Price and Sandy Sperry (and families). She was predeceased by Carl's mother and stepfather, Jean and Harry Adams.

Linda will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved her and will be remembered for her beautiful smiles, kindness and loving heart.

Linda wanted to thank her oncologist, Dr. Pamela Paley and her staff, Heidi, Katie, and Mary for their kindness, compassion and humor. She was grateful to Swedish Home Care and to Hospice for making it possible for her to remain at home until the end.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Alki Masonic Hall, 4736 40th Ave SW, on Saturday, September 9th, at 5 p.m. Donations in her name can be made to Swedish Home Care, c/o Swedish Hospital.
