Free Community Concert



A free community concert will be held Friday, Jan. 15 at 8p.m. featuring noted violinist Amber Archibald.
Hosted by the West Seattle Kiwanis Club, the event will take place in the Brockey Conference Center, 6000 16th Ave. S.W.
Houston native Amber Archibald received her bachelor's degree in violin performance from Indiana University and her master's degree in viola performance from Rice University. She currently is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Washington, studying with Melia Watras. Archibald also serves on the faculty of Seattle University and has performed throughout the United States, and in Portugal, Austria and Germany.
This concert is presented as part of the ACCESS Project, and is supported in part by the Mayor's Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, 4Culture, The National Endowment for the Arts, PONCHO, The Moraine Foundation, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Foundation and US Bancorp Foundation.
Under the direction of the Seattle Symphony, Ms, Archibald will perform pieces that include Mendelssohn's: The Hebrides ("Fingal's Cave"), Op. 26

Alki Community Center will offer a Zumba fitness class, which is inspired by Latin dance and music. Zumba uses a variety of styles in its routines including Cumbia, Salsa, Merengue, Hip Hop, Reggation, Rumba, Flamenco and many more styles.
