April 3, 1917 - October 7, 2006
Harry was born in Seattle, the youngest of Bruce and Lillian Lewin's six children. He graduated from West Seattle High School and worked as a truck driver in the family business prior to being drafted into the Army to serve in Europe during WWII. After the war, Harry began what would be a long career with the City of Seattle. Harry married fellow West Seattle High graduate Jennie Hughes in 1954 and fathered three daughters. After a long battle with breast cancer, Jeannie died in 1974 and Harry was left to finish raising three teenage daughters. Having survived that, he retired from Seattle City Light in 1980. While retired, Harry traveled the US and Canada by fifth-wheel trailer until settling in Thurston County in the mid-1980's with long time companion Desolee Watkins, who preceded him in death in 2003. The last year of Harry's life was spent at the Providence Mother Joseph Care Center in Olympia. Harry is survived by his daughters Kathy, Janet and Nancy, grandchildren Jennielee, Mary-Frances, Alexander and Christina, and son-in-law Chuck. Harry is also survived by a large extended family and many friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday October 21 at 10 a.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, Seattle.
