An employee at the DSHS office on Delridge was startled on Tuesday to see a stranger in what was supposed to be a secured area of the complex. Not only that, but the man was walking around with a laptop under his arm. Three employees gave chase, and the suspect ran to the Delridge Playfield, where he dropped the loot. He also dropped a card showing that he was a Department of Corrections client. He was booked into King County Jail for investigation of burglary.
Child Protective Services visited a Highland Park daycare and took custody of an 8-month old whose mom had been arrested in Snohomish County earlier in the day. It seems mom had been one of a group of gals hired to “service” some party goers in Mountlake Terrace. But the ladies decided to rob the men instead—and mom landed behind the wheel of the getaway car. (She also managed to run down one of the gents who tried to block the gals' getaway.) The infant's three-year-old sister was taken into custody as well, but she is already considered a ward of the state.
Hey car prowlers—just remember that some of your victims are night owls. Around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, a citizen looked out the window and noticed his car's dome light on. He also noticed that someone was sitting in his driver's seat. He yelled, and the suspect and an accomplice ran off. Several officers had seen a pair of males walking together in the area and were able to find them. The victim recognized a distinctive hoodie worn by one suspect and positively identified the pair (who had also prowled a neighbor's car.) The two—aged 20 and 24—were booked into King County Jail for investigation of theft and carprowl.
Monday evening, a woman called 911 to report that six or seven males had just robbed her son of his iPod, phone, and jewelry up near 16th and Henderson. Officers were dispatched to investigate. What mom didn't know was that her son is a dope dealer and—angered by a customer who used counterfeit money to buy his wares—“sonny” had handed off his personal items to a bystander so that he could fight the shifty customer. Recognizing an opportunity, the savvy bystander ran off with the goods. “Needless to say,” the officer writes, “mom was shocked.”
