Ira was born December 18, 1916 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He died peacefully at home October 31, 2006. He was the son of Ira and Myrtle (Heacock) Johns and attended Kearny State Teachers College, Kearny, Nebraska. Ira moved to Seattle in 1939 where he met and married his wife of 63 years Helen (James) in 1943. Ira worked for the Boeing Company for 38 years, from which he retired as an outside quality control supervisor in 1979. Ira was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, the Seattle Milk Fund, West Seattle Promenaders and Boeing Retirees. He is survived by his wife Helen; daughter and son-in-law Julie and Paul Gross; grandsons Timothy and Aaron and their fianc/es Noelle and Amy; daughter Judith Burbrink; grandson Chris Wenzel and granddaughter Angela Worhatch. Inurnment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, West Seattle, 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 4. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., November 4, at Hope Lutheran Church, 4456 42nd Ave SW, West Seattle.
