Dr. James O. York

Dr. James Ottis York passed away in his sleep January 1, 2007 at his home in Wesley Terrace in Des Moines WA. He was born November 4, 1916 in Harrison Arkansas and moved to West Seattle, WA at age 7.

He served as an Army Chaplin in Nome Alaska during WWII.

Jim was ordained a minister in the Christian Church ( Disciples of Christ) in 1941 and served in many churches including Lewiston, ID, Bellingham, WA, and Nampa ID, retiring in 1982. He had many interim ministries in the years following, retiring again in 1995.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Agnes F. York, his son and daughter-in-law, Kathlyn Joy and Steven Holland of Pasco, WA. 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Anna Hayden, Jean Delaurenti and his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph O. and Heln York., and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Faye Byram.

A memorial service celebrating hi life will b held at the First Christian Church of Kent on Saturday January 6 at 3 p.m.
