Just five days shy of his 72nd birthday, on Jan. 31 2007, Rod's heart just couldn't do any more work. His family and many friends will truly miss him, his ready smile, dry wit and willingness to help.
He retired from the Washington State Department of Transportation and then spent his remaining years consulting on construction management projects, including the Washington State Convention and Trade Center.
He lived in West Seattle all of his life but thoroughly enjoyed cruising to many parts of the world, including the Panama Canal and the Amazon River.
Rod is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patricia; son, Marc Williams (Lynne); daughter, Stephanie Higdem (Dane); and grandchildren, Shawn and Finn Higdem and Allison and Joel Williams.
