A citizen called 911 after finding what turned out to be over four pounds of marijuana spread over half a block of an Arbor Heights roadway. Officers photographed the scene and gathered the buds and leaves for destruction.
At a local community center, an 18-year-old young man, appalled that his younger sibling had struck a girl at school, decided to teach his brother a lesson by slapping him and pulling him off a chair. The 11-year-old told officers that he was surprised by the discipline but not injured. The elder explained to the officer that they are of Samoan heritage, that “violence is a way of life,” and that he was just trying to be a good older brother. Two aunts picked up the boys and assured officers that there would be no more fighting between the two.
After his father passed away, a man was going through his things and found a sawed-off shotgun under the bed. He brought it to the precinct for destruction.
In the Roxbury area, an elderly gentleman was taken to Harborview for a mental health exam after a second incident where he assaulted and threatened a female neighbor. The woman has assisted the man for several years but feels he is in the early stages of dementia. This time he struck the woman and mentioned that he owned a handgun.
A 23-year-old says that while he was sitting on a front porch near 37th and Sullivan, he got into a disagreement with two passersby. He told them to “get out of his neighborhood,” and they responded by knocking him to the ground and kicking him in the head. The suspects were slim black males, aged 18-21. One wore a North Face-brand jacket.
In the Charlestown area, a concerned grandma called 911 when the parents of her three-week old grandchild came home from a bar intoxicated and angry. After kicking a family dog in the head and kicking holes in two doors, the dad barricaded himself in the basement, while the 34-year-old mom kept yelling at officers to get out of her house. Dad ended up being booked into King County Jail for property damage.
At a Junction-area residence, a man took his wife out to the garage, where she says that he pinned her to the wall, punched her in the stomach and choked her before she could get away and run across the street to call 911. Officers found the husband at the home with the three kids (aged 6, 4, and 1). He complained that he “works real hard” and that his wife stays at home but “doesn't really do much” in the way of keeping up the home. Perhaps he'll prefer the tidiness of the cells at the King County Jail, where he was booked for investigation of misdemeanor domestic violence assault.
