April 18, 1913 - July 7, 2007 - Our Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother passed away after being with us for 94 years. She had lived in West Seattle since her teen years when her parents moved here from Minneapolis. She and her husband raised four children in West Seattle.
Bea spent most of her working years as a cook and waitress. Two of places she worked were the old Post Office Terminal and the Edgewater Hotel. She had the excitement of working at the hotel when the Beatles were there in 1964. Always a "very outgoing" waitress she often knew about the lives of everyone she served and they knew about hers, by the time they finished their meal!
Learning to drive at 70 gave her the ability to play chauffer to all her friends and to shop until she dropped! Also during her "retirement" years she donated her time in West Seattle at the food bank and the America Cancer Society Discovery shop.
Bea was preceded in death by her husband, James Howard, son, Richard James and grandson, Patrick. She is survived by, son Ronald (Marcie), daughter Patsy (Dick) and son Gary. She leaves behind seven grandchildren and four great grand children.
She requested a "Celebration of Life" instead of a funeral. The celebration will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, at the West Seattle Christian Church, 4400 42nd S.W. Please bring any fun memories or stories to share with all her friends and family.
In lieu of flowers make any memorial donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
The family would like to send a very special thank you to the great people at Providence Elderplace, who made her last few years more fun and enjoyable.
