We laid to rest our loving mother who entered heaven peacefully on August 27th, after a long battle with lung disease. She was preceded in death by August (Kossy), her loving husband and best friend of 56 years. Mary was born Jan 8, 1926 to Aytch and Margaret Griffin in Moorhead, Minnesota. They moved to Seattle when she was a teenager and she graduated from Holy Rosary High School. Mary met Kossy, her sailor, in the Drift On Inn in the late 1940's and they married May 6, 1950. Mary was a devoted mother and grandmother who provided unconditional love and guidance. Mom's children were her occupation in her life. She was a self-proclaimed professional mother. When she wasn't enjoying her family you could find her at the Muckleshoot, at her table working a puzzle or talking to friends on the phone. She was a member of WS Garden Club and YLI. Mary volunteered many hours at Holy Rosary Church and school. Mary was blessed with many friends from her teenage years, church groups and 50th bunch.

Her eight children, 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren survive her.

Mary's family would like to extend our special thanks to Dr. Jon Huesby. Mom had complete trust and faith in you. To Kristi and Diane and to the staff of Swedish Cherry Hill ICU. Thank you Esther for your comforting words.

There was a Viewing at the Howden-Kennedy Funeral Home, 3909 SW Alaska St., West Seattle, from 1-7 PM on Friday, August 31, followed by a Rosary. Mass was at Holy Rosary Church, West Seattle, on Saturday at 10AM.

Donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 2625 Third Avenue
