Died peacefully at home on September 17th at age 86.

She was born in Helena, Montana to Alma and Paul Immel. Her family moved to West Seattle when she was ten. She graduated from West Seattle High School, and attended Cornish, and Edison Vocational Schools.

Ruth and Ware Lantz were married in 1943. They settled in West Seattle, where they raised their children and participated in the life of the Fauntleroy neighborhood.

Ruth continued to develop and to practice her artwork with woodcarving, serigraphy, watercolor and sumi painting. Her artistic sense found expression in all she did, and strongly influenced the development of her children. Ruth's art and her gardens reflected the beauty and the wonder she found in life. She found her greatest inner peace, as well as connection with the Oneness of life during these activities.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Ware; five children and their spouses; grandchild JaneMing; and her brother, John Immel.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances to Heifer International (www.heifer.org), Habitat for Humanity (www.habitat.org), or the West Seattle Food Bank (www.westseattlefoodbank.org).

A celebration of Ruth's life will be held on Saturday, October 13, at 11:00 AM, at the Hall at Fauntleroy, 9131 California Ave. SW, Seattle, with reception following.
