Ballard: 1 Lake Washington: 7
After the Ballard High School baseball team took a 1-0 lead in the third inning April 22, Lake Washington scored seven unanswered runs to end the Beavers' two-game win streak.
Ballard wasn't lacking offense – the team finished with eight hits, same as Lake Washington – but couldn't find ways to score runs.
Senior David Doerr went two-for-four, freshman Rory Graf-Brennen went one-for-three and junior Danny Thompson went two-for-three for Ballard.
The loss dropped the Beavers to 5-7 in KingCo and 5-9 overall. They are fourth in the KingCo Crown Division.
With four games left, Ballard will face its biggest hurdle to finishing with a .500 record when it takes on Inglemoor at 7 p.m. on April 26 at Inglemoor High School.
Inglemoor is in first place in KingCo and trounced Ballard 11-1 March 25. But since that time, the Beavers have been able to defeat two of the top 10 teams in the state and go 5-5.
