Fanny Petit

A 98-year-old resident of Providence Mount St. Vincent in West Seattle, died September 12, 2007. She was the beloved mother of Raymond (Joan) Petit, Sammamish, John (Marlene) Petit, Renton, and Mary (David) Rogge, West Seattle. She enjoyed the company of 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Proceeded in death by husband, Raymond L. Petit, sisters Edith Mutter and Jessie Smith, and brothers William, Fredrick, and Edward Mutter.

Fanny was born on November 30, 1908, in Uxbridge, England. The family immigrated to Canada and then to the United States, arriving in Seattle November of 1918. The Mutter family settled in the community of Endolyne and established a bakery in downtown Seattle. Fanny graduated from West Seattle High School, class of 1927. She married Raymond L. Petit in 1934 and they resided in West Seattle near 35th Ave SW and SW Manning St for 62 years. She moved to Mt. St. Vincent in 1998, first in an assisted living apartment and later in skilled nursing care. Her family is very appreciative of the loving care Fanny received while residing at the Mount.

Fanny was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church, participating in the Women's Auxiliary and other activities. She led a group of Camp Fire Girls, and was active in PTA at Lafayette Elementary School. Fanny was a devoted wife and mother, always giving her time and unconditional love while asking for very little in return. Her friendly greetings and warm smiles will be missed by all.

At her request, no services will be held. An informal reception to celebrate Fanny's life will be held in the Providence Mount St. Vincent Dining Room, 4831 35th Ave SW, Seattle, 2:00 to 3:30 PM on Friday, September 21. Remembrances are suggested to Providence Mount St. Vincent Foundation or Providence Hospice of Seattle.
