Age 90, resident of Washington State 14 years, passed away peacefully in his sleep Oct. 1, 2007 in his final home at The Kenney in West Seattle.
Harry was born April 17, 1917 in Oakland, Calif., and graduated from Fremont High. He worked at the "new" Oakland Zoo at Knowland Park prior to joining PG&E in San Francisco where he met his future wife Claire Gillick. As a pilot in the Army Air Corp during WWII Harry earned the Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross in recognition of his many missions as pilot flying "The Hump" in the China/Burma/India theater. Following the war Harry served two years with the Oakland Police before enlisting in the US Air Force, earning further citations and medals for his contributions during the Korean War and work in intelligence, logistics, and communications. He proudly served his country a total of 26 years before retiring as Lt. Col. in 1966.
He was a dedicated husband of 47 years to Claire, who preceded him in death in 1988, and a loving and generous father to his four children; Andrea Jones of Lee's Summit, MO, Sharon Griffing of Lancaster, CA, Donna Perricone of Riverside, CA, and Bryan Jones of Seattle, WA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Harry's kindness, generosity, and happy spirit will be dearly missed by all.
