Age 84, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, October 26, 2007.
Ginny was born in Sayre, PA to Leonard and Thursa Hastings in 1922. She was married to Leo Novak in 1944, and resided in Athens, Pennsylvania until 1961 when the Novak family made their new home in West Seattle on Sunset Avenue. After raising her two sons, Virginia worked in Real Estate in West Seattle for over 30 years and enjoyed knowing and serving the people of West Seattle.
Ginny was an avid reader and loved spending time with her husband and family. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping, traveling by train, cooking, family get-togethers, and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ginny is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Leo; sister Marion Ballenstedt of Athens, PA; son Scott (Cheryl) of Juneau, AK; granddaughters Nichole (Darron) Forsell of West Seattle; Christie (Marc) Heany of Gig Harbor; Ericka Novak of Anchorage, AK; great grandchildren Trevor, Alyssa, and Brandon Forsell, and many other wonderful friends and family.
Ginny is preceded in death by her son Philip Novak, an infant son, Edward, and her brother Richard Hastings.
Thoughtful, giving, loving and serving, yet full of spunk till the end, Ginny lived a full life of 84 years, and was blessed to have you in her life. There was a memorial service at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in West Seattle at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2007. In Lieu of flowers please make a donation to your local library in her name.
